Guidelines for authors
These guidelines are meant to apply to the entries on pronominal systems to appear in the REPERTORY section. They should also be taken into consideration for the articles submitted for the RESEARCH section. It is understood that guidelines are designed to facilitate the task of the authors by suggesting a general structure and organization of the contents, and to make the texts as reader-friendly as possible.
Entries should be written in English. Examples given in other scripts should be also given in IPA versions, with English (approximate) translations.
A short introductory paragraph should include the name of the language considered with indication of its language family (or whether it is an isolate); the geo-cultural area in which it is spoken with the approximate magnitude of the population that uses it; the distinct location of its variety in the case of polycentric languages; and any other information that the authors would consider to be relevant to the understanding of its morpho-syntactic and pragmatic profile.
All entries should first include a table displaying the various pronominal forms classified with respect to first-, second- and third-person; number (singular, plural, dual, etc.); gendered and epicene forms; demonstratives; and relatives.
It is expected, though, that some adjustments may have to be made in view of the particular features of complex pronominal systems Some systems may require more than one table because of the number of forms to be listed; for instance, some systems may have distinct forms for inclusive and exclusive first-person plural; other systems have multiple fist-person singular depending on the addressee).
Serial comments (including possible diachronic information on the morpho-syntactics of the system considered) should follow.
The final section should address the pragmatics of the system considered, as well as contemporary directions of change in view of the social dynamics of pronominal systems.
Other specifications are forthcoming. In the meantime, constructive critical suggestions are welcome.
